Lions Start the Season 2 – 0

How ’bout them Lions! Week 2 in the NFL season is about over and the Lions find themselves 2 – 0 after an overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings today 20 – 17.

This was one ugly game. I can’t remember the last time I saw an NFL game that neither team played well or wanted to win the game. There was 10 turnovers in the game. There was too many penalties to count. Both kickers missed game winning field goals in the last minute of the fourth quarter.

The game started well for the Lions as Jon Kitna was moving the Lions at will though turnovers kept them from scoring as much as they could have. When Kitna went down in the 2nd quarter, the offense ceased to exist. Kitna gutted it out and came back late in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the Lions to victory. He gets a game ball from me. So, the Lions sit atop the NFC North in this very young season at 2 – 0.

The game today was a nail biter but very frustrating due to all the mistakes on both sides. It doesn’t get any easier next week as the Lions travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

Tomorrow, I hope to launch my new Detroit Lions fan site. Watch this space for the announcement and a link to check it out.
