School Year Winding Down

The school year for the kids is winding down. As usual, as the year ends, there seems to be a never ending stream of events at the school.

Last week was weird week for the kids. One day they dressed up as mismatched as they could. They looked pretty ridiculous, but I imagine they fit in nicely. The next day was twins day. They picked someone else from their class and then dressed up alike trying to look like twins the next day. The next day was weird hair day. Sean did some weird spikey thing with green colored hair. Savannah went for the Princess Leia look but one better. She had three buns in her hair and put them all on top of her head. The following day was school spirit day where they wore school colors and emblems. I can’t seem to remember what the fifth day was, but I am sure they had fun with it.

In addition, there have been a lot of school functions at night. There has been band night, play night, and sports banquet nights just to mention a few. Tonight was literacy night where the kids read excerpts from books. Tomorrow night is Social Studies play night. They sure do pile it on at the end of the year.

The kids have also been a numerous field trips here at the end of the year. On Friday, they head to The Cove in Sierra Vista. The Cove is a swimming complex so there won’t be much learning going on there, but I am sure they will enjoy it.

When school is out this year, the kids will be attending school camp the first week. I wouldn’t have guessed it, but they are pretty excited about it. Turns out the camp is really a bunch of field trips. They won’t spend much time, if any, in the classroom and will instead be taking a whole bunch of field trips to local attractions.

After the school camp, they have their Summer Dance Recital and then we are off to Alaska for our cruise on the Celebrity Mercury. The kids are anxious because when we sailed the Mercury last November, they left themselves a note taped to the bottom of a dresser drawer. Since we are in the same cabin, they are wondering if the note will still be there.
