Bowflex
March 1, 2006
Suzanne has been bugging me for years to get her a home gym. She semi-routinely goes to the gym and says it would save time/money in the long run if she had a machine at home and could cancel her gym membership. Well, I have finally relented and purchased one for her. I bought the Bowflex Extreme 2. I spent several hours this weekend putting it together. I must say its a high quality machine and went together without any difficulties. It also is capable of doing many different routines to work on all areas of the body.
Funny, sort of, but despite her commitments to give up the gym membership if I got her a home gym, she is now unwilling to give up the club. I would have bet money, despite her statements she would give up the membership, that this would not happen, so luckily I am not surprised. She says the club is just too convenient when she is in town and wants to work out.
Now, I just need to start using the equipment myself and thats another whole struggle…
Winners at ShowStopper
February 20, 2006
Wow, what a LOOOONNGGGGG weekend at ShowStopper. Left around noon on Friday and returned on Sunday evening. Most the time between was spent in an auditorium watching a bunch of dancers compete. Aaagghhhhh! It was fun when Suzanne or Savannah were actually competing, but that was about 12 mins over the whole course of the weekend. It wasnt too bad when others from the dance studio were competing since you knew who they were, but again a small portion of the overall time.
Anyways, on to the results. Complete results can be found on the Showstopper website.
Savannah competed in three dances. Her first dance was a Mini (8 years and under) small group character routine to Pop Goes the Weasel. They took home a first place Gold Medal and qualified for the National competition this summer. This performance earned a 3rd Place finish for all Mini small group recreational performances (not restricted to character routines). She also performed in another Mini large group Folklorico competition with a Polynesian dance. Again, they won a first place Gold Medal and qualified for Nationals. This performance earned them a 2nd place overall for Mini large group recreational routines. Savannah also competed in a Mini solo song and dance routine to Knock on Wood. She won a first place Gold Medal and qualified for Nationals. She finished sixth overall for all Mini solo routines for 8 and under.
Suzanne competed in the Senior (15 yrs and older) recreational solo song and dance competition with All Tha Jazz. She won a first place Gold Medal and qualified for Nationals. In addition, she won first place for the overall Senior recreational competitions for solo performances.
A pretty good weekend for the two of them!
