Notes:

Truman was a farmer. He also raised his brother and sisters after there deaths in 1855.

Cummings is of Scottish decent. Susan - Holland Dutch descent.

I am not sure of Edith's death but 1942 is very close.

Aunt Rose always signed her name Rosa.

Enoch P. Cummings (our great-great-grandfather's, Charles son, married Dolly W. Pillsbury of Sutton N.H. sister of the well known Flour Manufacturers, Hon. Geo. A. and John S. Pillsbury of Minneoplis. She died Dec. 8, 1858 at the age of 40. Their children, Dr. Herbert C. Cummings and merchant Charles Elliott Cummings. Enoch was known at the 'Old Guar' of the Republican party and in sympathy with John P. Hale and other leaders of that day in their struggle against slave power. A congientious christian man. A son Fred born June 16, 1873 at Concord N.H.. A brother of Enoch's was Lieut. Cyrus Cummings of Charlotte, MI..

Truman and Susan are buried in the Croswell Cemetary.

Truman married Susan Van Zant Yake on 06 Jul 1856. Susan was born on 05 Nov 1837; died on 12 Jun 1919 in Lexington, MI. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Moving to Lexington, MI in the spring of 1837 (the year that MI became a state) and settling on a homestead two mile north and two miles west and building a log house on N>E> corner of what is now Roach Road and Wixon Road.

Daphne's brother Ruebin Wright (born 1801) and his wife arrived at the same time and settle on the land adjoining them to the north.

Joseph and Daphine died in 1855 from the effects of fighting a big forest fire that swept through there that summer. Daphne's brother Rubin also lost his wife and child in the fire. He lived with Trueman E. and Susan Cummings until his death in 1890.

Joseph and Daphine are buried in the old Long Cemetary. Rubin is buried in the old Lexington cemetary.

Joseph married Daphne Wright on 30 Jun 1836. Daphne was born on 21 Jan 1811 in Washington, N.H.; died on 27 Sep 1855 in Lexington, MI. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Ordained as Baptist Pastor in 1805 - settled in Sullivan, N.H. in 1810. Later moved to Roxbury, which is an Historical place now. He formed baptist churches in Keene - Swansey - Marlboro - Peterboro - Hillsboro - Lyndeboro - Antrim. He had a strong physical constitution. The had 7 children. Daughter Mary married Luke Hemingway who wrote articles for the Saturday Evening Post, a well known writer. She died at 'Villa Altroeche', near Florence, Italy on Feb 20, 1885. Two children (of Mary and Luke) Rosalie and Pauline. Pauline married Domenico Altroechi who died in 1879. Pauline continued living in Italy where her mother joined her after Luke Hemingway's death. Mary Hemenway is buried in the Protestant Cemetary in Florence with her daughter and her daughter's busband.

Charles married Polly Hemingway on 09 Oct 1798 in Marlboro, N.H.. Polly was born between 1763 and 1787; died between 1813 and 1858. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
