Caribbean Cruise 2010 – Day 6 – Barbados

Yesterday was our third port of call on our 2010 Caribbean cruise aboard the Celebrity Equinox. Around 8:00 AM we docked in the port of Basseterre on the island of Barbados. We planned to go ashore late morning and rose about 8:30. Once again, we don’t have any excursions planned any just intended to walk around town and do some shopping. It’s another sunny day with a few clouds and temperature about 80 degs. They are saying chance of late afternoon showers.

After a back of the boat breakfast, we headed ashore. Once again, we stayed in the general vicinity of the cruise ship and did some shopping and general viewing of the town. Barbados is known for some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, but they are all located a fair way from the cruise ship terminal so we opted to wait for St Maarten for our beach visit. We were again successful in our shopping and picked up a few trinkets for folks.

After a late lunch on board the ship, we both decided to take an afternoon nap. Our short nap turned into close to 2 hours! This vacationing is tiring business! We had already decided to take a break from the dining room tonight and have dinner in our room on the balcony and enjoy a movie in the cabin tonight. We also decided to enjoy the sail away from our balcony too. We also decided to forego the ships night activities too.

Around 7:00 we had dinner delivered to the cabin while we were watching the movie Up in the Air. I enjoyed a cream of baked potato soup, Caesar salad and Veal Cordon Bleu – very delicious. Suzanne enjoyed onion soup, mixed green salad and a filet mignon that was cooked to perfection. We both passed on dessert tonight.

After dinner, we watched another movie Get Smart although Suzanne didn’t make it through the whole movie. She fell asleep about 10:30 and I retired for the night about 11:30. All in all, this was a very relaxing day that continued this wonderful vacation.
