If its fall and Saturday, it must be another day of youth football. The temperatures were a little cooler today, a slight breeze was blowing and some clouds help make it a more tolerable afternoon. Another couple of weeks and we should enter into Fall in full swing. Unfortunately, the opposing team wasn’t as nice as the weather as they handed Sean’s football team another loss, this time by the score of 26 – 0.
The game was actually a bit closer than the score indicates, but the contest was never really in doubt. Sean’s Yellowjackets have a weak offense and don’t score a whole lot. That said, they did move the ball inside the 10 yard line twice, but came away empty handed both times. They turned the ball over 4 times on fumbles. Still, the offense played better than last week and another week of practices will be good for them. Sean played the entire game at left guard on offense.
The defense also played better than last week, but still gave up two really long run plays that hurt them. They were able to force one fumble and make one interception. Sean mixed up on defense playing both middle linebacker and left tackle. He played about 3/4 of the game on defense.
To a kid, the Yellowjackets gave it their all. None of them quit which was very nice to see. Hopefully, they will put it together and be able to win at least one game this year. Next week, we get the annual long drive to Douglas (an hour and fifteen minutes away) for the game.
What we do for the love of the game. It does keep you humble.
