Tonight, Sean’s baseball team kicked off the new season in fine fashion, winning by Mercy Rule 14 – 1. The game only went 3 innings as it was very one sided.
Sean started the game at catcher and caught the first two innings. Boy, has he improved over last year. He was very effective in catching the ball and not letting anything get by him. In the third inning, he moved to third base in order to let the coach look at another kid at catcher. I think the coach is hoping to find another kid that can manage catching so he can get Sean in the field as he is one of the better kids.
At the plate, Sean went two for two. The first one was a very nice bunt down the third base line that he beat out to first base. The second at bat was a base hit up the middle.
So, it looks like another promising season for Sean’s team. Last year, they only lost one game, if I remember correctly and won the title. If tonight was any sign, they are likely to repeat.
His games will be on Wednesday and Saturday. I am going to try to make as many Wednesday games as I can, but some are an hour and half from work and I would have to leave really early to make it. I am not sure how this worked out, but all the Wednesday games are away games, and all the Saturday games will be home games. I have been asked to umpire some of the home games. I don’t mind helping out, but it’s harder to watch the Sean play while umping.
Way to go, Sean. What a great beginning for your baseball season.

Love baseball. Maybe because I understand it more than other sports. Sean, keep up the good work. Remember, that it is important to be a good winner and a good loser.
Sean enjoys baseball, but football is still his favorite…
