Caribbean Cruise 2010 – Day 3 – Day at Sea

Yesterday was another wonderful day at sea. This cruise, thus far, has been extremely relaxing and enjoyable. We continued plying the deep waters of the Atlantic on our way to the Eastern Caribbean. Ocean depth has been between 5000 and 6000 meters. Temperatures have been hovering around 80 degrees, but the motion of the ship has kept you relatively cool.

Since we had a late night the night before and lost an hour on the clock, we were late to rise. It was almost 10:30 when we got out of bed. I can’t remember the last time I was in bed that late, but it felt good. After getting dressed, we headed down for lunch instead of breakfast.

In the afternoon, I went and checked out the hot glass show once again while Suzanne headed back to the cabin for another nap. I guess sleeping in to 10:30 wasn’t enough for her! 😉 I also took in some of my customary staring at the ocean time.

We then went to the Captains Club cocktail hour for a couple drinks. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. After the cocktail party, we dressed for dinner (casual again) and went to listen the party band on the cruise, Headlines (this is our fourth cruise with them). We also stopped by the Cellar Master Lounge to visit with our favorite cruise cellar master and enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine.

As usual, dinner was exceptional. I stayed rather light, opting for a Caesar Salad and a Glazed Pork Loin with a red wine mushroom sauce – very delicious. I even skipped dessert. Suzanne went with the fish escoviche for appetizer, with a green salad and Shrimp Scampi for the entrée. She had her usual mixed berries for dessert.

After dinner, we headed off to karaoke for the night. This is one of Suzanne’s favorite things to do on a cruise. Well, actually, she just likes to sing wherever she is! She sang three songs: Don’t Rain on My Parade, Phantom of the Opera and All That Jazz. She was a little disappointed that the karaoke system couldn’t play her disks, but she did fine with their selections. Her karaoke performance was good enough that she was invited back to sing in the Starring You – Singing Star competition towards the end of the cruise. First prize is dinner for two in a specialty restaurant.

With karaoke over about 12:30 am, we headed off to bed. We are scheduled to dock at St Thomas around 7:00 in the morning. We don’t have any excursions planned but will walk the town and do some shopping.

More as we continue our wonderful cruise of 2010…
