If you are a frequent visitor to Mr Papa’s World, you may have noticed some of the recent enhancements to the website. I thought I would spend a couple of minutes and let everyone know about the recent improvements.
- Print this Post – I have added the capability for Mr Papa’s World readers to print out a post in a nice formatted fashion in case I happen to write something that gets enough interest from someone that they would want such a feature. The Print this Post feature is located in the header section of each post.
- Rate this Post – I have added the ability for readers to rate each post from 1 – 5. This gives me some feedback on what folks think of the stuff I am writing on Mr Papa’s World. The current post rating is displayed below the post header information. If you have havent voted on a particular post, just click on the number of stars you want to give that post.
- Advanced Search – I have added in an advanced search feature to Mr Papa’s World. The built-in search ability of WordPress is a bit limited. This new feature adds in a whole bunch of options for searching for information on this site. You can access the advanced search page from either the nav menu at the top of the page, from within the Website sidebar on the right side or from the mini quick search area at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Social Bookmarks – Social bookmarking seems to be the recent rage on the web. Wikipedia defines social bookmarking as “Social bookmarking sites generally organize their content using tags. Social bookmarking sites are an increasingly popular way to locate, classify, rank, and share Internet resources through the practice of tagging and inferences drawn from grouping and analysis of tags.” While I dont really use social bookmarks, I thought I would make it easy for those who do, to bookmark Mr Papa’s World if they so desired. The currently supported social bookmark sites are shown via a strip of small images right below each post.
- Clickable Smileys – I have also given readers the option now of easily using smileys when making a comment on a post. Below the comment entry textarea is another box that contains the currently available smileys on Mr Papa’s World. Simply click on the smiley you want and it will be inserted into the comment.
There have been a few other behind the scenes modifications that I wont bother you with as they are really aimed at helping me create content and maintain the site. I hope you enjoy the new changes and continue to stop by and read what I have to say.
