Wow, just noticed how many spam comments that the Akismet plugin I run here at Mr Papa’s World has stopped from ever reaching site. The spam comment count is now over 30,000 spams since I installed Akismet. I wish I could remember when I installed it, but I don’t. I may have to research a bit and see if I can figure it out.
That sure is a whole lot of spammers trying to leave comments here. I just don’t get it. Every once in a while, one does slip through, but I usually delete it the same day. My host also runs a bunch of other software under the covers that stops a whole bunch of spam before it can attempt to leave a comment. It’s hard to imagine how many spam comments the more popular blogs get if little old me has over 30,000 in the last 6 months or so.
It used to be a whole lot worse for me too. I think I am getting a hundred or two a day right now. A while back, I was getting 5 or 6 hundred a day. What a waste of time and resources.
