Treadmill Back Operational

Okay, the treadmill is back operation, though I am not sure for how long. Hopefully, for a long time to come.

Suzanne finally had the proper amps, lubrication kit and new fan delivered yesterday. She was ambitious and did all the necessary work and tested it out. It seemed to be working fine.

The proof, however, will be tonight when I try to resume my treadmill workout routines as part of my dieting and weight loss effort. If everything goes well, you may not hear anything else from me on the treadmill. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have attached a nice looking photo to this post. It’s a great photo of an Air Force training squadron flying in a never-done-before “USA” formation over the control tower “Taj Mahal” (the HQ building) of Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The jets are probably moving at around 400 mph and the photographer must be good to get the shot at just the right
instant. This is a hard formation to stay in. The ones in the “S” are just a little graduated degree behind the next one and staying that way to maintain the formation.

Impressive!

EDIT: This is an illustration and not an actual photo…

    Great shot!

This is the AFB from which Suzanne’s grandfather, General John A. Pechuls, retired. After retirement, they lived in Universal City.

We have seen the Taj Mahal many times, but never quite like this!

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Anne, I figured you and Brett would recognize it… you can right click on the image and download it if you want to keep a copy of it…

  3. Neat picture. I have seen it before and thought it was digitally manipulated since this would be a very difficult formation/picture to set up (especially for a training squadron). This might be a good topic for the next myth busters show :).

  4. Ooooppsss… I had queried a couple of guys that had seen it before and they though it was real… well went to urbanlegends.com to get the answer… here it is:

MSgt. Lee Roberts of the public affairs office of Randolph Air Force Base expressed more than a little exasperation when I queried him as to the authenticity of this photo. “I’m getting inundated with email on this subject,” he said, and urged me to spread the word: “The flyby never took place. The photo is an illustration.”

I wasn’t able to determine who created the “illustration” or where it was originally published, but it has been circulating by email and posted on various Websites since December 2002. Its intent, in an atmosphere of looming war, is clearly to spread patriotic sentiment among Americans, though at least one variant of the accompanying text sounds a note of caution as well: “Please pray for all our young men and women serving our country and going into danger, that we might keep our Freedom. And please pray for wisdom for our leaders.”

    Oh, well, still a nice illustration… ๐Ÿ™„
