Trying out Twitter and Family Update

One of the recent rages on the net lately has been Twitter. Thus far, I have been able to resist getting into it, but last night, I took the plunge and signed up. My tweets are now available here at Mr Papa’s World in the right sidebar or on My Twitter Page. Feel free to add me as a friend if you use Twitter. I can’t guarantee that I will stick with this, but decided I would give it a go.

What is Twitter? It’s sort of a mini-blog. It’s a quick way to say what you are doing or what’s going on versus an entire blog post. In fact, tweets (what an entry to Twitter is called) can only be 150 characters long. It’s a way for friends to stay in-touch and aware of each other’s activities.

Normally, your tweets are read over at Twitter. Thanks to a handy plugin by Alex King for WordPress, I am able to display my tweets on my blog. Also, when I do make a post here at Mr Papa’s World, it will also turn it into a tweet on Twitter. Suzanne has also signed up to Twitter and you can see her tweets over at her blog Sonoita Singer.

In other Family happenings, Sean’s baseball team was victorious again yesterday to increase their record to 9 – 0 and remain undefeated. The margin of victory yesterday was 15 – 5. They have yet to be really challenged though they gave up those five runs in the first inning and it looked like we might be in for a game.

Sean has been asked to tryout for a regional baseball All Stars team that will be competing in an Arizona State competition. The coaches running the team really want him to be the catcher for their team. We are not sure he will be able to do it, since the tryouts are supposed to be while we are on our Alaska cruise. He will be back from the cruise and a visit to his Grandparents in Dallas in time for some of the practices and the series of tournaments, but at this point, unsure how this is going to turn out.

Suzanne and the kids are getting ready for their Summer dance recital on the 8th and 9th of June. This means many long rehearsals and costume prep – more than normal. It’s gonna mean two nights of shows for me, but it’s pretty fun.

Suzanne’s Dad took a fall last week and broke a few ribs and hit his head on the kitchen floor, causing some bleeding and bruising of his brain. The prognosis is good, but he is confused as to where he is and why he is in the hospital and thus will most likely remain in the hospital until the end of next week. After the cruise, Suzanne and the kids will be spending a week and a half in Dallas with her family.

Comments

  1. Thanks for the link to twitter….I am not yet sure if I will sign up, but looks interesting.

  2. I first saw it about 6 months ago but have held off… one minute I think interesting, the next I think “what for?”… so, finally decided to give it a try and see if it adds anything…

  3. I don’t think I have the energy to update it that often. I have a hard enough time with regular posts.

  4. time will only tell if it’s something I stick with, so just trying it out… so far, it seems pretty decent for throwing or current blurb or thought up here…

  5. Who’s on first?

Brett – hope you are feeling better real soon

  6. update on Brett: he got up at the hospital last night to go to the bathroom and fell, breaking his hip… they are now planning hip replacement surgery
