Thanksgiving Visitors

It feels really odd for us to have Thanksgiving approaching and for us to not be prepping for a cruise. Over the last four Thanksgiving holidays, we have been on a cruise for three of them, including the last two. It has almost become a tradition for our family. Since we did an Alaska cruise this past June, we decided to hold off on Thanksgiving cruise this year.

The kids are bit sad as they really love cruising, but luckily their grandparents, Suzanne’s parents, will be visiting this Thanksgiving, so they are eagerly looking forward to the holiday and their visit.

I have sort of gotten out of the swing of preparing a big Thanksgiving dinner with the cruises, so this will also be a good opportunity for me to make a nice feast. I haven’t planned out the menu yet, but when I do, I will post it back here.

Suzanne’s parents will be here for about a week, arriving next Tuesday. There are two things they wanted to do while visiting, so we will try to accommodate them. They would like to go to Kartchner Caverns and see the wonderful underground beauty that is only 30 minutes from us. They would also like to drive up to Mt Lemmon which is North of Tucson. From our place, its an hour and a half to two hour drive. The current thought will be for the Mt Lemmon trip to happen on Wednesday. I will likely not go, but instead stay home and work on the Thanksgiving dinner. On Friday, we would all then go Kartchner Caverns. Thursday is reserved for eating and watching football.

Her parents will be here until the following Wednesday. With both of them now retired, they will be driving. Unfortunately, I will need to leave on the Monday following Thanksgiving for another business trip, this time to Florida. We will pass each on their way out as I arrive back in town on Wednesday.

It should be a fun Thanksgiving…

  1. We are really looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with the Klasens.

    See you soon,

    Grandmother and Grandpop

  2. looks like we are going to have to come up with plan B though… Kartchner Caverns is full up on Friday…

  3. Heading to the Gulf Coast? Enjoy the weather! If I don’t chat with you, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite holidays with the family. We are staying home this year and, although we planned to spend it with Karen’s family, her dad is battling a post-surgery staph infection in his leg and they won’t be able to join us.

  4. Thanks Paul! Same for your family… Yup, heading to your old haunts…

  5. Wishing all of you the best of Thanksgivings. I will be cooking also for our group. Haven’t made a bird for a couple of years, so I am really looking forward to it. Hey to Ann and Brett.

  6. watch for a post soon…. the menu is planned!
